Regina Cat Rescue is a non-profit organisation primarily run by volunteers. Our teams manage fundraising, communications, donations, rescue, adoptions and community cats. The teams are overseen by the Board of Directors. Consider lending your skills!
Foster
Regina Cat Rescue doesn’t operate a shelter, instead the organization manages a network of foster homes. Foster homes are the backbone of RCR. Right now we have urgent cases that need foster homes so that we can save them from a life on the street. Can you help?
Community Cats
Regina Cat Rescue manages over 30 community cat colonies in the city of Regina. All cats at these colonies are trapped, neutered or spayed and then returned to their colony where they rely on volunteers to provide shelter, food and water daily. Join our team of community cat volunteers!
Events
Fundraising is our major source of revenue. Our event volunteers help with fundraising activities such as charity events, community initiatives, and working the Western Pizza concession stand at Mosaic Stadium. Help us meet our fundraising goals by becoming an event volunteer!
Our organisation depends on donations, bequests, fundraising efforts, and volunteers.

Volunteering has been proven to have numerous benefits, such as improving your quality of life, and emotional-well being and mental health. Volunteerism is a great way to become involved and give back to your community, as well as have fun with great people and become part of a purrrfect team! You will increase your knowledge and experiences to expand your resume, while making a difference in the lives of animals under RCR’s care.

Fostering animals in a home greatly reduces their stress levels and helps RCR to get to know the animal better. We are then able to tell prospective adopters about the cat’s personality and what qualities make them a great fit in their forever home. We would love to rescue every cat in need, but unfortunately we are limited by the number of volunteer foster homes we have.
Fostering can be as simple as designating a spare room or office in your home for a cat in need!

Fosters are required to spend time with their foster animals. Socialization is just as crucial to their well-being as food and medical care. Gradual integration with other household pets is encouraged for adaptability. It is helpful if fosters have their own vehicle for transport to any necessary veterinary appointments.
RCR asks that fosters provide photos and some notes about the animal’s personality for promotion on RCR’s website and social media. A volunteer photographer can also be requested or recommended to help with photos.
Potential adopters are screened by Regina Cat Rescue. Upon approval, they are put in contact directly with fosters. Foster homes should be willing to accommodate potential adopters, as they are encouraged to meet the foster cat in the foster home.

RCR provides all food, litter and essentials. Veterinary bills and any medical expenses are always covered by RCR, thanks to donations and fundraising initiatives.
Foster homes are encouraged to request food and litter supplies with at least 72 hours notice. Consistency in food supplies is aimed for to avoid gastrointestinal issues for the cats.
Fosters may also choose to provide food, litter and supplies. The receipts for these purchases can be submitted to RCR at the end of the year for a gift-in-kind tax receipt.

Foster homes are crucial for the rescue’s work, however the time it takes for an animal to be adopted can vary greatly. Sometimes an animal will be adopted within a matter of weeks, and sometimes it takes several months. All the while, fosters have the full support of dedicated volunteers.
By opening your heart and your home to foster cats and kittens you are providing a safe space where they can grow and heal while waiting for their forever family. Fostering not only provides the opportunity to change the lives of cats and kittens, but also the lives of the lucky family who adopts them.
Community Cats
As a volunteer with the Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) Feral Feeding Program, you will be a caregiver to Regina’s feral and stray cat population.

Trap, Neuter/spay, Return, Manage (TNRM) is the effective and humane approach to managing feral/community cat populations.
With support from RCR volunteers community cats can live long and healthy lives. That’s because once they’ve been sterilized the endless cycle of mating and giving birth to litters of kittens ends. Male cats no longer fight and roam. Female cats no longer bear kittens.

Deliver food and water to approximately 10 colonies, once per week on an assigned day
Monitor the health and well-being of cats in the colonies and report any sick, injured, pregnant or new cats to the Feral Team Officer
Assist with spring/fall cleanup of feeding stations and shelters, and winter preparation
Trap any unsterilized cats from the colonies (optional)

Be able to commit 1 to 2 hours per week for regular feeding duties; flexible hours for volunteers willing to trap.
Events
Make a meaningful impact on the lives of Regina Cat Rescue cats by volunteering at events that fundraise to support their care. Your participation helps provide essential resources for these deserving animals.
Events include markets, fundraisers, community initiatives, and the Western Pizza booth at Mosaic Stadium for Saskatchewan Roughrider home games and other events. Duties vary dependent on the particular event, but you’ll always work alongside a fantastic (and fun!) team. View full role description
Western Pizza at Mosaic Stadium
Working the Western Pizza booth at Mosaic Stadium is one of RCR's biggest fundraisers and enables us to pay for veterinary care for Regina's abandoned cats and kittens. We get paid per volunteer spot that we fill, so it's important that we get the max number of volunteers possible. Volunteer duties include setting up the concession, serving pizza, drinks and other concession items, taking payments and giving change to patrons, and closing down the concession. Shifts are approximately 5 to 6.5 hours in length.
As a non-profit and registered charity, Regina Cat Rescue offers Fine Option Program opportunities. Through the Fine Option Program, the Ministry of Justice gives people the opportunity to settle fines by doing unpaid, supervised community service work. Find out more about the Fine Options Program!
